This is an extremely intelligent breed.  All Dobermans need training or they will train you. Stay one step ahead of yours young Doberman and you will have the best dog you have ever owned.  Like most dogs, Dobermans respond well to a benevolent leader. Positive reinforcement, consistency and patience are the tools of all great dog trainers.  Lose your patience and you lose your dog's trust and confidence in you - his leader.

Training begins the minute you get your puppy, or adult dog.  A dog learns, bad or good, from everything he sees, hears and does.  Your job is to control what he learns, beginning with puppy potty training, proper socialization, puppy kindergarten class followed by much more.
